Welcome to the Finnish Connemara Pony Society Website!
Have a look at Connemara foals born in Finland in 2011!
Starting in February 2012 new rules will be applied to Connemara Breeding in Finland, according to the current EU regulations and following the rules of the Mother Stud Book in Ireland. As of this spring, old rules were yet applied, while Connemara Pony Stallions were shown in Ypäjä in mid-April. Rockfield Scarface returned home after two years' lease in Sweden and received a well deserved five year extension to his breeding permit. Six year old Doyher Bay Boy was shown and ridden for his final approvement. He received marks that brought him a 1st premium - always a good achievement for a pony stallion! Finally, Danish bred Skatholm Thunder Ball was shown for his Finnish permit and received good points, but he had to wait for a final approval for another month. His veterinary examination was finally passed in mid May, and he became stallion nr. 28 in the Finnish Connemara Stud Book.
The Finnish Connemara Pony Society arranges a Cup Competition each year for Connemara Pony riders regardless of age - The Connemara Cup. Points are awarded for any discipline, as long as the pony has reached the finishing line and is not disqualified. The higher the level, the more points scored.
Connemara Cup 2010 saw a new, young, enthusiastic winner in Heta Kannela and her British bred pony Sunnylands Miss Laura (Nyton Village Master - Rosenaharley Laurelin, Mac Namara). All results can be seen here.
Finnish Horse Board Hippos has awarded Connemara Ponies with breeding premiums. Stallion Innellan Kestrel 15 IC was awarded A, and the next highest premium, AB, was awarded to stallion Symphatil Hazy Becks 12 C and mares Grange Sunset Surf 141 IC and Hagens Ulina 197 IC-E.
Connemara Ponies have been shown in two shows in Finland summer 2010. The latter show was the National all breeds' show in Helsinki. Connemaras were shown in their own ring for a British judge, Mr Malcom Fry. He chose six-year-old mare Coneridge Kathleen (Innellan Kestrel - Kate - Killyreagh Kim) as the best pony of the breed. As the Junior Champion Mr Fry chose yearling filly Fieldhill Bene Bettina (Dale Mountain Mist - Eternal Amity - Symphatil Hazy Becks), and the best young pony of the opposite sex was Symphatil O'Neill (Symphatil Hazy Becks - Irish Dream - Öxenholm Marble Jr). The best foal was filly Rockfield Eternity (Calvin Klein - Rockfiled Scaramé - Kåsta Scaramouche), the best veteran mare Downhill Dewdrop (Kåsta Scaramouche - Aramara Audrey Grey - Millfields Ensign) and the best gelding Ohana Andromera (Rockfield McBurney - Aramara Eliza - Ardnasillagh O'Flaherty). The Supreme Champion from the Connemara breed show in Tampere in July, Woolpacks Sweetie Pie (Janus - Bolle Cornette - Lukas) was this time placed 2nd in her class to Coneridge Kathleen. Please read more about the breed show in Tampere earlier in July on the ICCPS website.
